Old Man Cactus
The Old Man Cactus, or Cephalocereus senilis, is a “hairy” columnar cactus that originated in the mountains of Argentina and southern Bolivia. It gets its name from the thick, beautiful and unique white strands that grow along side its amber spikes. It is quite hardy, and the sunlight stimulates the hair growth on these plants. This cactus has personality and uniqueness that make it an interesting and desired addition to a xeriscape design. Some other similar cacti include the Old Lady Cactus and the Old Man of the Andes.
